Sandakphu - Phalut trek

This is the easiest and friendliest trekking route for the beginners and those who what a slow, propper acclimatization, before going to more serious adventures in neighboring Sikkim. The trekking route goes among the hills which forms a border line between Nepal and West Sikkim. So, that wonderful mountain road between Nepal and Sikkim from a classic song is this one. There are places when if you look left - there is Nepal, and if you look right - there is Sikkim.

Everyone is going to the Sandaphu village, from which the whole Everest range and Kanchenjunga range, could be seen. This is unique view point. This village has a few small guest houses, usually packed with friendly foreign and Indian tourists.

From here the trek could be adjusted by length and difficulty. Some groups are going down, via beautiful forrest, crossing a few micro climate zones - from a high-altitude pine forrest into rhododendron forrest, into a tropical jungle in a single day, others are continuing to the tiny village of Phalut. This is closest point to the great mountains before descending back into sub-tropical hills.

There is another possibility - to traverse the whole Singalila Range, via Dzongri, down to Yuksom in West Sikkim, but this trek requires a lots of gear (tents, kitchen, etc.) assistance of guides and porters, and Sikkim Permits for each tourist. This Singalila range trek is for those who want a hardcore camping experience.
